Budget car rental - Stansted
I had a terrible experience with this company.
I basically had 2 problems and ended paying almost 460£ instead of the prepaid amount(148£):
1)At the time to get the car the Budget sales guy told me that I had to provide a deposit of 800£. I told him that the credit card I used for the booking didn't have such amount available but I could have used another one with more than 2000£ credit available. He didn't accept that and said that I had 2 options, cancel the rental (paying 3 days of rental) or pay the the excess waiver (total 187.20£ + 100£ deposit).
I accepted to pay the full insurance and I got immediately charged on the cc of about 287.20£.
I made the booking via rentalcars so I contacted them today. They said that budget doesn't even know which card I used for the booking, so what I've been told by the budget sales guy said was completely untrue.
2) second problem, the "NAIL SCAM": I arrived at Stansted airport at 5.30 am to return my car and waited the Budget office to be open in order to hand back the car keys and check the car with someone. The sales guy took the keys but didn't want to check the car saying that "everything was ok". I trusted him and I left the office.
Today I just realized that I've been charged of 120£ because they checked the car and found that a tyre was damaged (and guess what? tyres were not covered by the insurance!)
I called few times and I finally was able to talk with the person which was responsible of checking the car. She said she found a nail in one tire and that the car was delivered when the office was closed and for that reason they couldn't check the car in my presence.
This is totally unfair because I was there when the office was open and I just trusted Budget representative and left.
I'm totally sure that the car was immaculate, no scratch and no damaged tyres and with the full tank, as requested.
I searched on internet and found that someone else had the same exact problem at Stansted airport! Everybody getting nails! hat a coincidence...
For the record, the initial cost of the rental was 148.63 (which I paid to rentalcar)
I ended paying 455.83

Hi Jones,
thank you very much for your help. Rentalcars was informed on "day 1" and I got an email after I posted my message on here. I confirm they pretty cooperative and helpful.
Budget refuse to help, I called Stansted branch office and they only only made fun of me. The customer service instead says they cannot track my rental using my rental agreement number (the one I have on they invoice) so they are not able to help...
Thank you again.
Best Regards
Giulio
